Adam Kok II fled to Campbell and set up his home here in 1815 after a fallout with the new San leader Andries Waterboer. Today his great grandson, Adam Kok V, claims the title of the local Griqua leader while living in squalid conditions in the shanty town seen upper right. The regional road R64 cuts through the town - from Kimberley to the right and Griquatown to the left.
